Meal Worms at the Ready!

New hungry mouths.

It's at this time of year that our newly fledged birds can do with a bit of a boost

Live meal worms are pretty much guaranteed to get birds into your garden (even your hand) especially Robins and Blackbirds. And it's satisfying to know that by continuing to feed your birds you are helping them survive what is becoming a topsy turvy year, weather wise.

We have several mixes with dried meal worms included, Fledgling Saver, Super Mix also with fruit and a full range of live and dried meal worms in stock.

New threat to our birds

The spread of Avian pox

Once confined to the South East new outbreaks of this distressing disease has come to light as far north as Staffordshire and west to Wiltshire. Affecting Great Tits, Dunnocks and Wood Pigeons with lesions around their eyes and beak.

It is completely avoidable just by cleaning your feeding area and feeders regularly ( at least once a week). Also try to regulate the amount of food you put out making them clean out feeders every 2 days or so. Take a look at our hygiene products for safe healthy wild birds.

Making a start

Here we go again

It always seems to be the same, just as we think about harvesting - down comes the rain! We have to start no matter what on the 25th as my oil seed rape is ready and I don't want it ending up on the ground.

Brown Hare Day

The Brown Hare Workshop

We all had a great day on the 15th with about 30 people walking the farm to catch a glimpse of one of our hares. Things didn't look too good with a very misty morning but by the afternoon, when we needed it, it started to clear. I managed to see a hare in the crops and got it to run straight past the whole group, which was very lucky. Thanks very much to all who came along and I hope you all had a great day and even learnt something useful !
