9-1      Very cold weather for 1 month. c50 Snipe in the Hills with 50+ lapwing, 4 teal, 800 skylark on Soar Mill field with redwing, fieldfare and a grey heron.

11-1     11 mallard, 9 teal on pond. 50 snipe, 1 bar-tailed godwit, 200 redwing with fieldfares, 1 merlin, 60 golden plover on farm.

11-1     7 wrens on our house wall going to a communal roost.

20-9       c300 Meadow pipits, 50+ skylarks.

24-9       2 golden plover in Ranks and 3 ringed plover in Waypark

25-9       Spotted flycatcher in garden, swallow, whitethroat and many blackcap in valley

25-9       c300 Skylark in Decca with 20+ wheatear

29-9       Ringed plover flying over and calling

2-10       2 swallows, c100 goldfinch in Ranks, approx 300 skylarks in Decca

9-10       1 Hobby Soar Mill Cove, Merlin hunting across Waypark.

10-10       3 Swallows, 5 wheatears, 1 house martin, 2 grey plover with 2 bar-tailed godwit.

12-10       10 long-tailed tits in garden

14-10       c500 House martins with a few swallow in Soar Mill Cove. 1 Firecrest and 1 ring ouzel in willows

16-10       2 Bullfinch, 2 siskin, c20 blackcap, 1 hobby and 20+ swallows & martins.

17-10       Merlin, lesser whitethroat in willows and a red-breasted flycatcher at East Soar farm.

19-10       Hen harrier hunting Decca field also remains of a barn owl possibly a fox.

20-10       2 Barn owls roosting in the straw shed. 14 Golden plover in Ranks, 1 wheatear, male whinchat, 4 wood lark and a black redstart.

22-10       Quail in wild bird mix in Soar Mill field.

24-10       7 Wood lark in Sheps near the cliff, great spotted woodpecker , 3 siskin, 4 reed bunting and 1 firecrest.

6-11       15 Ravens flying around Hazel Tor

10-11       Barn owl hunting grass fields at 4.30pm

11-12       50+ Lapwing in Perratons field, c10 blackbirds in yard feeding on spilt grain.

DEC       Huge numbers of birds in fields as rest of the country is under snow, lapwing, snipe, redwing, song thrush, golden plover and an estimated 12,000 skylark. Hen harrier, 2 merlin and a short-eared owl
